"OAKTOWN" A's Hat [Chronicle Edition]
"OAKTOWN" A's Hat [Chronicle Edition]
CHRONICLE COLLECTION
Inspired by the rich history of California teams, this concept pays homage to the Golden State and its most iconic teams. Just like a newspaper, these hats capture team history, cultural references, and classic color combos on that only a true fan or local could recognize. With the news paper print industry quickly dying, this concept is an ode to the once coveted front page cover that headlined our favorite sports/athletes and the publishers that created them.
Influenced by current headwear trends and a fresh take on vintage hats, each piece in this collection is constructed of premium thick corduroy and buttery suede for that retro, faded vibe. The overall hat frame is a custom designed 5-panel, mid-profile crown with a tapered, pre-curved brim that aims to provide a clean and timeless silhouette.
DESIGN INSPIRATION
Colors: Forest Green // Matcha Cream Suede
Front 3D Embroidery: Reimagined A's logo in Old Engish inspired by Bay Area newspaper fonts.
Side Patch Artwork: "Home Plate" inspired patch shape that pictures a scene with the Oakland skyline and iconic Bay Bridge in the background. With the Oakland Athletics most likely on their way out of The Town, I wanted to integrate their famous slogan "Rooted in Oakland" into the design so there are details of the Oaktown tree extended by its roots into the grass in the forefront. The front features "Stomper the Elephant", the A's original mascot from 1902 - 1955 that first came about as a response to media claiming they would make no money, calling them a "Big White Elephant" (shoutout John McGraw).
Underbrim Embroidery: "Oaktown” font inspired by the Athletics modern word logo.
Back Embroidery: Alternate MLB inspired "A5" logo in modern team colors.
